Conflict - either open or disguised - can stymie communication and creativity. It can wallop personal relationships and render groups ineffective. But it does not have to. Not when it is managed and expressed properly!

Without special training, handling conflict in a group can be a nightmare. But Noel McNaughton can show you and your group a simple, very effective way to handle conflict.

Conflict is always a possibility whenever people work together, whether in organizations, communities, or families. Within any group there are differences of opinion, beliefs, needs and even cultural values. As the pressure from change and scarce resources grows these days, people often feel threatened and defensive, and conflict is almost inevitable.

~Consensus is not Compromise~
As a professional working with groups, it can be tempting to try for compromise in a conflict situation. But seeking compromise is rarely useful. All it means is that nobody ends up where they want to be, and the conflict goes on, often “underground”. The result is delayed decisions, increased stress, and a decrease in effectiveness. Consensus leads to agreement, not compromise.
